Voting & Ballots

Participate in community decisions through PorchQ's voting system. Cast your vote on motions, elections, and amendments that shape your community.

Viewing Active Ballots​

Navigate to the Voting tab to see current and upcoming ballots. You'll see:

  • Open Ballots: Votes currently accepting responses
  • Upcoming Ballots: Scheduled votes that haven't started yet
  • Closed Ballots: Past votes with results (if visible to residents)

Ballot Types​

Your community may hold different types of votes:

Motions​

Standard yes/no votes on community decisions, such as:

  • Approving the annual budget
  • Authorizing a special assessment
  • Changing community rules

Elections​

Choose candidates for community positions:

  • Board member elections
  • Committee chair selections
  • Officer positions

Amendments​

Votes on changes to governing documents:

  • Bylaw amendments
  • CC&R modifications
  • Rules and regulations updates

How to Vote​

  1. Go to the Voting tab
  2. Click on an Open ballot
  3. Review the ballot details:
    • What you're voting on
    • The available options
    • Any supporting documentation
  4. Select your choice(s)
  5. Click Submit Vote
Important

Once submitted, votes typically cannot be changed. Review your selection carefully before submitting.

Anonymous Voting​

Some ballots may be configured as anonymous, meaning:

  • Your individual vote is not visible to board members or other residents
  • Only aggregate results are recorded
  • The ballot will indicate if it's anonymous

Quorum Requirements​

Many votes require a minimum participation level (quorum) to be valid. You may see:

  • Current Participation: How many members have voted
  • Quorum Needed: The minimum percentage required
  • Quorum Status: Whether the vote has reached the required threshold

Your participation matters! Even if a majority is clear, reaching quorum ensures the vote is official.

Viewing Results​

After a ballot closes:

  • Finalized Results: See the outcome once the board finalizes the vote
  • Vote Counts: Total votes for each option
  • Quorum Status: Whether the required participation was met

Results visibility depends on your community's settings. Some votes show results immediately after closing, while others are released after board review.

Voting Deadlines​

Voting periods are displayed on your dashboard and in the Events calendar. Look for:

  • Start Date: When voting opens
  • End Date: The deadline to submit your vote

Don't wait until the last minute! Submit your vote early to ensure it's counted.
