Connect the Association Bank Account
Connect an association-owned bank account through Stripe so resident assessment payments can be deposited directly. This connection is separate from the PorchQ pay-as-you-go balance used to pay for PorchQ services.
Association owners and managers can start or resume setup. Use an authorized representative who can provide the association’s legal and banking information.
Before You Begin
Have these items ready:
- Association legal name, business address, and EIN or tax ID
- Authorized representative’s name, address, date of birth, contact information, and taxpayer identification information
- Association bank routing and account numbers
- A phone or authenticator available for Stripe security checks
Stripe decides which identity fields are required. Depending on the account and verification result, Stripe may request a full SSN, ITIN, or other taxpayer identification number—not only the last four digits.
Enter bank numbers, taxpayer IDs, passwords, and verification codes only in Stripe’s hosted flow. PorchQ does not receive or store those values. PorchQ stores only the Stripe account ID and privacy-safe readiness categories needed to show the next step.
Connect or Resume Setup
After signup, an optional pop-up on the AI Assistant can start this connection: Connect the association's bank for resident dues. Optional. This is not a card to use PorchQ. Continue in Stripe, or skip for now. The same pop-up appears if the association still has no bank connected, including when a demo community becomes a free account.
You can also start from either location:
- Payouts in the association’s Finance navigation
- Workspace settings → Banking
- Select Continue setup in Stripe.
- Complete the association, representative, and bank sections in Stripe.
- Submit the information and return to PorchQ.
- Read the status card before taking another action.
Stripe onboarding links expire for security. If a link expires, return to PorchQ and select Continue setup in Stripe again. Do not create a second connected account.
Understand the Status
Action required
Stripe still needs information. PorchQ shows a safe category, such as identity verification, business tax ID, or bank verification.
- Select Finish verification in Stripe.
- Complete the highlighted Stripe requirement.
- Return to PorchQ and select Refresh status if the page has not updated.
Under review
Stripe is reviewing submitted information. Do not resubmit the same information or create another Connect account. No action is required unless Stripe changes the status to Action required. You can refresh the status later.
Activating
Stripe accepted the details but has not enabled all payment capabilities yet. Refresh later. PorchQ keeps resident payments unavailable until Stripe confirms that charges and payouts are enabled.
Awaiting enablement
Stripe verification is complete, but PorchQ has not enabled resident payments for this association. Contact PorchQ support or your organization’s billing administrator. Do not reconnect the bank account.
Support review or restricted
PorchQ or Stripe found a configuration that needs review. Select the Stripe action shown on the page if one is available, or contact PorchQ support. Never email sensitive identity or banking values.
Ready
The Stripe connection, payment capabilities, and PorchQ safeguards are ready. Resident payments can be enabled for the association.
What Happens After Connection
- Residents submit assessment payments through PorchQ.
- Stripe processes the payment in the association’s connected Stripe account.
- Stripe processing fees and any approved PorchQ application fee are shown in the payment and payout records.
- Stripe deposits available funds according to the schedule shown in the Stripe Dashboard.
- PorchQ records privacy-safe payment, fee, refund, dispute, and reconciliation evidence.
The applicable fee is the rate configured and disclosed for the association; this guide does not promise a fixed percentage.
Use the Stripe Dashboard
After Stripe accepts the account details, select Open Stripe dashboard to:
- Review Stripe verification notices
- View balances, transactions, payout timing, and payout failures
- Update the bank account or authorized representative
- Download Stripe reports and tax documents
- Configure Stripe account security
New PorchQ connections use Stripe’s full Dashboard. A legacy connection may open Stripe Express instead.
Change the Bank Account
- Open Payouts or Workspace settings → Banking.
- Select Open Stripe dashboard.
- Update the payout bank account in Stripe.
- Return to PorchQ and select Refresh status.
Stripe may pause payouts while it verifies a material account change. PorchQ will show Under review or Action required when Stripe reports it.
Troubleshooting
You completed Stripe but PorchQ still says “Action required”
Open Stripe again and look for the highlighted requirement. Identity verification may require the representative’s full taxpayer ID or a document. After submitting it, return to PorchQ and refresh the status.
PorchQ says “Under review”
Wait for Stripe’s review. Repeated submissions and duplicate accounts can make reconciliation harder. Refresh later or open the Stripe Dashboard for Stripe’s latest notice.
The bank account is connected but resident payments are unavailable
Check the exact status:
- Activating: Stripe has not enabled all capabilities.
- Awaiting enablement: PorchQ must complete the association rollout review.
- Payments paused: PorchQ temporarily paused new payments globally.
- Support review: Contact PorchQ support.
A Stripe link expired or the flow was interrupted
Return to PorchQ and select Continue setup in Stripe. PorchQ generates a new single-use link for the same account.
A payout has not arrived
Open the Stripe Dashboard and check the payout’s status and expected arrival date. Then compare it with Payouts in PorchQ. Contact support if the two disagree.
Contact Support Safely
Send support@porchq.com:
- Association name
- Approximate date and time of the issue
- The status label shown in PorchQ
- A screenshot with personal and banking information removed
Never send a taxpayer ID, bank account number, password, recovery code, or two-factor authentication code. PorchQ support will not ask for them.
